When discussing the Word of God with anyone, (also see video Tooltip Video) in order to evaluate the truthfulness of what you or I may have been taught or believe, it is vital that we first establish a method of verification between the two parties. There will always be inconsistencies in understanding of the Word of God unless the two agree to rely on the same resources (the Bible, a Dictionary, a Lexicon, etc.) to verify our definitions, explanations and translation of the scriptures (which are critical in validating the correctness of our claims). We can eliminate most misunderstandings because we now have an agreed upon means whereby we can at least identify where the potential error exist if we identify the source from which we obtained our understanding that led to our conclusion.
Many have made claims that are just not found written as such in the Bible (i.e., “Jesus is God” or Jesus is “God the Son”, God was “totally man and totally God” at the same time, etc.) and yet claim these statements to be true. There is a reason why these statements are not written in the “Word of God”; they don’t belong there.
